Budget Plans for Heating Oil, Kerosene and Wood Pellets

Each year more than 250 Co-op members sign up for our Easy Pay plan for kerosene deliveries. New this year, we’re also offering Easy Pay plans for heating oil and wood pellets.

Easy Pay Plans for Oil and Kerosene

Our Easy Pay plans for oil and kerosene offer these benefits:

No big bills for oil or kerosene. Instead of paying when we deliver your oil or kerosene – and those winter bills could be $500 or more – we spread your payments evenly over ten months starting in September. Many of our members find this easier than paying for each delivery. Your monthly payments can be automatically charged to your debit or credit card for your convenience.

Convenient automatic deliveries. You don’t have to worry about running out of oil or kerosene – because that’s our job!

Interest. You receive interest paid at the rate of 3% a year for every month your have a credit balance.

How does the Co-op calculate my monthly payments?

By making two assumptions. We assume that our heating oil price will average $2.99 a gallon over the next twelve months ($3.25 a gallon for kerosene) and that your fuel use won’t change much. If next winter is much warmer or colder than normal – or if fuel prices go up or down by more than 50 cents a gallon – we may need to adjust your monthly payment next January.

Do Easy Pay plans include price protection?

No. Each time we deliver your heating oil or kerosene you’re charged our daily price. There is no cap and no price protection fee.

Does the Energy Co-op offer price protection plans for heating oil and kerosene?

Yes for oil, no for kerosene: Our Smart Choice plan for heating oil includes a cap price. Market conditions have made it very, very difficult for oil dealers like the Energy Co-op to offer price protection for kerosene deliveries. Our advisors at Hedge Solutions recommend that we do not offer price protection for kerosene. We agree with them.

How do I sign up for my Easy Pay plan for oil or kerosene?

It’s easy. Download and print our Easy Pay form for heating oil or kerosene. Then call us at 860-4090 to get the information you’ll need. Complete the form and fax or mail it to us with your payment. Our deadline is Friday, September 24th, 2010.

Easy Pay Plan for Wood Pellets

Our Easy Pay plan is an easy and convenient way to pay for your Vermont wood pellets. You’ll never see a big pellet bill again. Here’s how it works:

  • Our minimum order is four tons of Vermont wood pellets to be delivered between September 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011.
  • You pay for these pellets with 10 monthly payments, starting in September and ending in June. We use a price of $254 a ton to calculate your monthly payments.
  • You call us when you need a delivery (we require three weeks notice).

Here’s an example. Your order five tons of pellets. Using a price of $254 a ton, we calculate your monthly budget payments at $127 a month. If our price is lower than $254 a ton when we deliver your pellets, you’ll have money in your account at the end of the season; if it’s higher than $254 a ton, you’ll have a balance at the end of the season.

How do I sign up for the Easy Pay plan?

It’s easy. Download and print our Easy Pay budget plan form. Then call us at 860-4090. We’ll answer your questions, take your order and calculate your monthly payments. Complete the form and fax or mail it to us with your payment.
Our deadline is September 24, 2010.

What about delivery charges?

There are none. That’s right, no delivery charges. We include our delivery costs in the price we charge. Check this carefully if you speak with other suppliers. Don’t be surprised by delivery charges that add $20, $25 or $30 a ton to the price.
