Use
Less Energy and Save More Money!
Unlike most energy providers, we want to help our members use less
energy by using it more efficiently. For that reason, we'd like to recommend
the following programs and organizations which can help you do just
that:
Vermont Weatherization Assistance Program: This program helps
homeowners and renters reduce drafts, improve insulation levels and
increase heating system efficiency. It's available at no cost to Vermont
residents who meet certain income guidelines. To see if you qualify for Weatherization assistance:
- If you live in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin or Grand Isle counties, call CVOEO Weatherization at 1-800-545-1084 (toll-free)
- If you live in central Vermont, call CVCAC at 1-800-639-1053 (toll-free)
Efficiency
Vermont: Oil prices are very high these days - so using less oil makes more sense than ever. Efficiency Vermont is here to help you make your home more energy efficient - and more comfortable. Efficiency Vermont's web site has lots of information about how you use energy and where you can make cost-effective improvements. They also provide a list of contractors who perform energy audits and as needed, add insulation, seal air leaks, replace windows, eliminate drafts, and make homes more comfortable and energy efficient. You may also call Efficiency Vermont (1-888-921-5990 ext 2000 - toll-free) for this information.
Typically, contractractors recommend improvements that cost about $3,500 and produce about $600 in energy savings each year. That's an excellent return on your investment.
