Vermont Furnaces & Boilers

Most of us think about heating systems only when something goes wrong. As long as we’re warm, we’re happy. We’ll get the routine maintenance done, but we don’t want to spend money on anything like an “expensive” new heating system, especially in tough economic times.

Investing in a New Heating System

But think about the difference between “spending” and “investing.” Replacing an old, inefficient furnace or boiler with a state-of-the-art system is an investment that offers excellent returns. What’s more … the returns on this investment get better as energy prices rise.

Here’s an example. Jeremy’s home is heated with a 20 year-old boiler which is 75% efficient. He burns 900 gallons of oil each year, and has been given an estimate of $6,000 to install a new 86% efficient boiler. Even if he takes advantage of low-interest loans, Jeremy is concerned about the cost. But the true cost is modest: $74 a month if oil stays at $2.25 a gallon, falling to $57 a month if oil goes to $3.50 a gallon. (Do the math, or let us do it for you.) And the new boiler uses 160 gallons less oil each year!
