The Energy Co-op of Vermont works with the organizations listed here to deliver oil, kerosene and wood pellets to Co-op members who need the fuel but are unable to pay for the service.

Seasonal Fuel Assistance

Availability: Submit an application after July 1 and before the last day of February. The best time to apply is July 15th through August 31st.
Income: Up to 185% of federal poverty levels
Season: November 1st through April 30
Pays for: Oil, kerosene or wood pellet deliveries. Seasonal Fuel Assistance may NOT be used for service work.

Crisis Fuel Assistance

Availability: It’s winter, you have no money and you’re facing an emergency (you’re out of oil or close to running out).
Income: Up to 200% of federal poverty levels
Season: From the last Monday in November through the second Friday in April.
Pays for: Oil and kerosene deliveries.

Global Partners

Availability: You’re on a limited income and are unable to pay for an oil or kerosene delivery.
Income: As determined by CVOEO.
Season: Starting late fall and continuing until 3,000 gallons have been delivered.
Pays for: A total of 1,500 – 3,000 gallons of oil donated by Global Partners, LLC, owners of the oil terminal on Flynn Avenue in Burlington. Each delivery is 125 gallons.

WARMTH

Availability: You’re in an emergency situation because you’re out of oil or are close to running out.
Income: Up to 200% of federal poverty levels
Season: October through May.
Pays for: Up to $200 per delivery for no more than three deliveries during the season.

VT HAP Program

Availability: Have experienced a financial hardship associated with the coronovirus pandemic after January 21, 2020.
Income: Up to 150% or less than the area median income. (County limits may vary.)
Season: Accepting applications until further notice
Pays for:

You can apply for assistance with the following home-related expenses:

  • Assistance to allow a homeowner to reinstate a mortgage (including property tax and insurance escrows, servicer advances and fees)
  • Homeowner’s association fees or liens, condominium association fees, or common charges
  • Property taxes
  • Utilities, including electric, gas, fuel oil, and water

For Renters - VERAP Program

Availability: VERAP provides financial assistance for renters to help pay for rent and rental arrears and other expenses related to housing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Up to $10,000 maximum combined total)
Income: Household income at 80% or less of county median income.
Season: Applications accepted until further notice
Pays for: Electricity, Natural gas, Water and sewer, Trash removal, Fuel oil and other energy costs
