When heating fuel prices rise, it’s easy to feel unsure about how to keep your home warm without overspending. At the Energy Co-op of Vermont, we believe in giving our members real tools to take control of their energy costs and stay comfortable all winter.
Every home is different, and so is every budget. That’s why we offer a few different services to help you use less fuel and plan in a way that works for you.
Here are five ways to get started:
1. Enroll in our Heating Oil Pre-Buy Program OR Budget Plan.
The best first step is to plan ahead. Our Heating Oil Pre-Buy Program makes it easy to lock in your fuel price before the season begins. This protects you from the volatility of the fuel market, making it easier to manage your winter expenses. Â
Or choose our Budget Plan. Plans are active from July 1st to May of the following year, and spread your estimated heating fuel costs into predictable monthly payments. You’ll avoid large bills during the coldest months and gain peace of mind.
2. Tune Up Your Heating System
A well-maintained system uses less fuel and heats your home more efficiently. An annual tune-up keeps things running smoothly and helps prevent mid-season breakdowns. We offer tune-ups year-round, so no matter the weather, we are here to keep your system healthy.
3. Install a Cold Climate Heat Pump
Heat pumps are a great way to reduce your reliance on heating fuel. These systems run on electricity, provide both heating and cooling, and work efficiently even in Vermont’s cold climate. As a Mitsubishi Diamond Elite Contractor, we’ll make sure your system is designed and installed for long-term savings.
4. Upgrade Older Equipment
If your heating system is showing its age, upgrading to a high-efficiency model can make a big difference in both comfort and cost. Our expert heating services team will help you choose the right system with a free site visit and quote. Â We will connect you with available rebates or financing options as the need arises.
5. Weatherize Your Home
Leaks and poor insulation make your heating system work harder than it needs to. Our energy audits and weatherization services help seal up your home, reduce fuel use, and improve indoor comfort. An energy audit is a great place to start.
